1981 United States Proof Set

This was the last set to contain the short lived Susan B. Anthony Dollar.

The production of all dollar coins would cease until 1999, when the Anthony Dollar briefly returns, although it was not placed in Proof Sets for the year.  Other coins included in the 1981 set were the Lincoln Cent, Jefferson Nickel, Roosevelt Dime, Washington Quarter, and Kennedy Half.

The price for the set was raised once again from $10 to $11.

The packaging for the 1981 Proof Set was the same as established in the prior year.  The coins were placed into slots of a red plastic insert, and then sealed in a clear plastic holder.  A separate black plastic piece could slide to protect to the set or be used to display it. The outer cardboard box was black and open on the top.
