Vintage *Zimmer Kirschner Traction Bow [Wire Tractor] Surgical Tighteners 7pc Set

These antique medical instruments were crafted by Zimmer, a renowned brand in the surgical and orthopedic instruments industry.  Ideal for collectors or those into gothic and the macabre!

Traction Bows range is sizes, from 13.5" × 4.5" to 8.3" × 3.5".  Marked 121A, 121B & 121B.  Largest bow has no #.

Used in surgery where traction is required.  The bow is set over the limb requiring traction and a metal rod is then slid into one end and punched through the flesh and bone until it comes out the other side.  The rod is then secured using the clamps on each end and a weighted line or fixed frame is the attached to the holes at the top, pulling the limb taught.

Gorgeously gothic and marvelously macabre!
